Leaving Soon

Vern will be departing shortly with the Plastiki boat to sail across the Pacific Ocean. The project will include underwater camera work, ocean filming, underwater sound recording, and solar and man powered electrical systems. There is no follow boat, so we will be self-contained for about 40 days. We do have a proper satelite link and we’ll be uploading footage, photos, voice recordings, blogs, and tweets over the course of the whole trip. Everyone will be able to follow the voyage on the Plastiki website and we’ll provide other links for information and enjoyment as we get them.

It’s been conceived and built by David De Rothschild and his team over the past 2 years. Now, stationed in Sausalito, CA, the boat is undergoing final preparations before David and his team will attempt to cross the Pacific Garbage Patch through unto Sydney, Australia. “The Whaler” Post Production

We’ve officially gone into pre-production on the short film, “The Whaler”.

Synopsis:
Samuel Coffin, a whaler from the mid-19th century, has been living in Jim and Carrie’s garage in a suspended sort of existence, kept alive through communion with the artifacts of his forgotten trade. Jim’s detached emotional involvement causes his marriage to fall apart, leaving his relationship with Samuel to seemingly strengthen when Samuel’s song-writing finds them fame, fractured empathy, and, tragically, love. Caught in an emotional triangle, Jim soon finds himself surrounded by the confusions of a failing marriage, the betrayal of a friend, the loneliness of his own soul, and the realization that he may only be able to save one.

We’re aiming to film early January or February.
